The Taj Mahal is often photographed before it is seen. Arrive patient. Let the crowds thin at the edges of the gardens, and the marble starts to read as craft, inlaid flowers, balanced domes, water that doubles the sky.
What to notice: the four minarets’ slight outward lean, the calligraphy bands, and how the marble cools from white to amber near sunset.
Collector tip: Verify inside the complex once you have passed security. Dawn tickets are kinder; late afternoon is kinder to photographs.
