Grand Canyon on the South Rim wind

The Grand Canyon does not fit in a frame. From the South Rim the Colorado’s work becomes a cross-section of time, reds, ochres, shadows that move like a second landscape across the first.

What to notice: the changing width of the gorge as you walk between overlooks, ravens using the updrafts, and how quiet the rim can be between shuttle arrivals.

Collector tip: Verify at a named overlook rather than from a parking lot. Give yourself two viewpoints minimum; the canyon changes personality with every bend.
