Hagia Sophia holds centuries in one volume of space. Domes float above marble floors that have known emperors, sultans, and today’s travellers who look up and forget to speak.
What to notice: the central dome’s soft light, the calligraphic roundels, and the mosaics that survive in careful fragments.
Collector tip: Visit early, then cross the square toward the Blue Mosque and Basilica Cistern. Istanbul’s historic peninsula is dense with certificate-worthy places within a short walk.
Claiming Hagia Sophia is claiming a hinge between continents, a pin that belongs on every serious travel atlas.
